August 2011 (Weston, FL) - gMed is proud to announce Gastroenterology Associates of York is its first client and one of the first practices in the nation to receive $18,000 per physician for completing Meaningful Use requirements.
Under the HITECH Act, providers that implement and demonstrate meaningful use of a certified EHR prior to 2015 are eligible to receive incentives, up to $44,000 per physician. To qualify for Phase I, providers must use a certified EHR technology in a meaningful manner for 90 consecutive days, exchange health information and report clinical quality measures electronically. The payments are issued by check 4 to 8 weeks after successfully completing self-attestation.
Joe Rubinsztain, MD, gMed's CEO added, "We are thrilled that Gastroenterology Associates of York is one of the first practices in the nation to receive Meaningful Use incentive payments. Most practices underestimate the challenges associated with meeting Meaningful Use. Early deployment of our HITECH Advisor coupled with excellent execution by the practice led to early Meaningful Use incentives. We expect many gMed clients to capitalize on this opportunity in the near future."
Gastroenterology Associates of York is a 7 physician practice in York, Pennsylvania. They were supported by HITECH Advisor, a consulting service that guides practices to meet Meaningful Use and help them obtain HITECH incentives.
Erin Dettrey Clinical Coordinator at Gastroenterology Associates of York said, "Success! The receipt of the HITECH funds financially rewarded our hard work, offsetting the monetary, time and energy investment involved in implementing an EMR. HITECH advisor guided us through implementation, registration, monitoring the key performance statistics, attestation, and even followed up to assure the funds were received."
