gGastro Version 4.0.8 Release

Weston, FL (August 19, 2009) - The official release of gGastro Version 4.0.8 was in August 2009. The application is specifically designed to match the workflow, processes and needs of a typical GI office and/or endoscopy center. gGastro version 4.0.8 includes updates to the Patient Interview Form (previously known as the Kiosk), the History of Present Illness Template, E-prescribing as well as insurance verification.

Gathering existing medical history is a laborious task. gGastro's improved Kiosk (now called Patient Interview Form) offers maximum customization in an effort to quickly collect the information. Each practice has the ability to customize the layout, print the form and hand it to the patient during check-in.

The History of Present Illness (HPI) template in gGastro is entirely modifiable. Users have the ability to utilize the pre-defined paragraphs, or they can create their own. In the previous versions, modifications and new templates had to be completed only by gMed.

gGastro also allows the practice to check the national database of previously prescribed medications for a particular patient. After the database is checked, the newest version allows the practice to electronically import only the medications deemed important into the patient's chart.

The E-prescribing module eliminates the need for many calls and follow-up tasks at the practice. The module actually transfers the work to the pharmacy. With the new functionality it virtually eliminates the need to (a) receive calls from the pharmacy for renewals, (b) create the refill tasks for physicians, (c) call pharmacy to approve refill, and (d) update the patient. Instead the practice receives electronic requests directly from the pharmacy, which can be approved or denied electronically, notifying the pharmacy accordingly.

The new insurance eligibility/co-pay check for medications functionality allows office staff/physicians to review medications that are not covered in a patient's plan. This greatly saves time and prevents the patient from having to call the office requesting a different prescription that would be covered by his/her health insurance. Additionally the office can see what the patient's corresponding co-pay is without having to make any calls. The information may also include: step therapy required, prior authorization required, age or quantity limits, or any other information the insurance carrier elects to provide. Using this functionality also qualifies the practice to receive CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) reimbursements for electronic prescribing.
